I had almost the same problem with HRS I had a account through them from Rhodes. I ask them for the pay off amount for everything they had paid on their over the phone paying system. I knew that there was a five dollar fee and it will credit on the account. But when I paid it off the person I talk to on the phone said that he will add the 5 dollar charge on top of my payoff since the account was closed and cannot have any charges on it.

So when everything was said and done I received no more bills so I thought everything was alright. Well about 6 months later I received a letter stating they were cleaning up their system and I had a fee of 50 bucks and when I called them to let them know I paid off the account they told me it was a 5 dollar charge plus late fees.

After all this I checked my credit report and have like 4 120 days late 1 30 and 1 90. Now I know that I was late a couple of times with them and when I called they said it was my responsibility to know that I have charges with them even though I closed the account and they never sent me no more bills. Equifax couldn't help me out either.

To me this is crap if you pay off the account and receive no more bills how is my fault to me its theirs I shouldn't have to check after I close a account to see if I have anymore charges with them.
