I found your web request while trying to find a phone number for HRS. My situation is that I paid off my account for some furniture that I purchased from a Charlotte area "Rooms-To-Go" store, and as usual, I paid off my balance earlier than necessary. I didn't receive a notice that the account was closed. I assumed it was.
This was years ago and I had dismissed it from my mind. Recently I refinanced my home. During this process I had the opportunity to review my credit rating. I found an $87.00 outstanding balance from 1997 to HRS. I had no idea what it was. My loan agent immediately asked if I'd ever financed any furniture through a retail chain. He went on to explain that this company (HRS) is used by many retailers and that HRS charges a finance fee. This finance fee was never disclosed to me at the time of purchase. I simply had a "no interest/same as cash" agreement with "Rooms-To-Go".
Now I've come to learn I have had an outstanding balance on my credit for the last three and a half years.
