I co-signed for an individual by the name of JLC for a jet-ski and trailer at Lowry's Kawasaki & Equipment in Tahlequeh, Oklahoma on 7/30/99. The purchace price was $6999.00. The financed total $7037.75. In July of 2000, I applied for a Montgomery Ward charge card, however I was denied.
I immediately researched my credit and discovered that it was HRS USA reporting negatively. I had never received any time of notice from HRS USA, stating the the account was delinquent. They had my address and Mr. C's address on file. I contacted Mr. C and he stated that he was making the payments but that HRS USA was charging late fees if the payment did not reach them by the 7th of each month.
I took over the payments in September of 2000, the balance at that point was $6746.66. I had never received any information that the payments were not being made. I then contacted HRS USA and tried to establish a reasonable median. HRS USA refused to negotiate at all. On 9/30/00, I made a payment of 746.66.
I have been making payments each month and the interest rate is still 20.80%. They refuse to help lower the interest and I feel that their business is taking advantage of people. They have ruined my credit and the failed to notify me of the concerning matters. I also tried to make a payment by phone HRS USA tried to charge me a fee for the service. If you can help in any way, I would greatly appreciate it.
Webmaster's note: Mr. C probably was right, and it ruined both of them.
