For Christmas of 2000 my husband and I purchased a Polaris ATV from a local dealer. Our financing was done thru Transamerica Bank N.A.

Everything was fine until December of 2001. Transamerica sold our account to HRS USA. This is where the nightmare begins...

We did not receive our December statement from Transamerica. Instead we received a bill from HRS USA and a phone call stating that we have to make a payment over the phone to avoid being turned over to collections. I had no idea what was going on. I paid the bill over the phone and was charged a $10.00 "direct check" fee. The check I wrote to them for the direct check is dated 12/17/01. I did not clear the bank till 12/21/01.

Then when I received my January statement my minimum payment due is $20.00 more then usual. The statement shows a purchase for $19.00 and an added payment of minimum payment of $10.00 on top of the $102.00 we normally pay.

Here's where it gets confusing. I have call every month to find out that this $19.00 purchase is and no one seems to know and it never comes off the bill. My minimum payment keeps increasing and my interest rate when from 6.9% to 16.75% and is now 21.90% and I've not gotten an explanation why. My balance gets higher and higher on every statement and after a year of steady payments we are almost back to the original purchased amount.

I cant make heads or tails of the statements. I found your web site after receiving several threatening phone calls from HRS. Our payment due date is the 19th of each month. If they have not received our payment by the 21st they call us at all hours of the night and say that if we don't pay by phone the minimum payment, a late fee and a $10.00 direct check fee we will be turned over to collections.

My husband and I sold our house and now have the means to payoff the account but after looking over your web site and looking back over our statements I'm scared that we are being over charged and that if we send them a large amount of money they may "lose" it or not post it correctly. Do you have any suggestions for me?
