Hoffman Estates, Illinois high end furniture retailer. Entered into a partnership with Household Retail Services in June 2004. Key names: Richard Klesse and Hugh Plunkett.
Some say Plunkett is a worldly company, selling furniture made in China, financing with predatory lender Household International, with customer service reps in India and collections agents in other remote locations. HSBC owns Household, and now they are called HSBC Finance Corporation. And HSBC got their start in Hong Kong and moved to London in the 90's.
The bottom line is that Plunkett Furniture signed a contract with the predatory, troubled, and well sued Household in June 2004, right in the middle of the Shea v Household settlement, RICO charges with H&R Block, and at a time when American jobs are going to overseas call centers.
Plunkett Furniture made their decision, but on financing we educate and you decide. Household - HSBC Watch gives a consumer friendly thumbs down to Plunkett for their financing decision.
