The uBid credit card is backed by predatory lender Household International. On 15 December 2004 Household's name was changed to HSBC Finance Corporation.

UBid is a majority-owned operating company of CMGI and leading retail auction and e-commerce site. Through the agreement, uBid customers will be able to apply for instant credit with no annual fee using the uBid card managed by Household Retail Services.

UBid is one of the merchants that caused Houshold International to upgrade some computer platforms to accomplish real-time transactions.
