Topic Title: Signed for Check, then claimed not received

I sent a $960.00 check 2nd day air to HSBC,NV on Nov. 25, 2005. They signed for it, but now are saying they did not receive it. The check was from a lending agency which says the check has not been cashed. HSBC is charging late fees and extra fees and refuses to do anything because they say they don't have the check. I cannot get anyone to give me the phone number of the Vegas office so that I can speak to them directly. What can I do?
Keep in close tough with the lending company and make sure they keep contacting Household about this until this is resolved, including removal of late fees etc. Also watch out, Household will probably attempt to trash their entry on your credit reports which might take months or even years to fix.
If the above doesn't work:
If I were you I would report this to your State's Attorney General's office and also the equivalent office of Banking and/or Consumer Affairs in your state.
Don't let this go too far or you will be in for one h*** of a ride with them.
