HSBC Private Bank’s hedge fund division is strengthening its real estate group as it embarks on an effort to buy up properties in the Northeast’s biggest cities.
HSBC is facing investor complaints in Ireland for allegedly failing in its duties as custodian for Thema International Fund Plc. Custodians are charged with oversight of funds, and manage deposits and payments to investors.
Is HSBC telling the truth when the bank said only 10 clients were effected by data theft at HSBC Private Bank? Le Journal du Dimanche says the number is more like 130,000. Citizens of Colombia, Italy and “many other countries” are among the 130,000 clients whose data was stolen, according to the newspaper.
HSBC said “potentially fewer than ten people” were compromised in a theft of personal data from HSBC Private Bank in Geneva. Le Parisien newspaper said that the files contained details of thousands of clients of HSBC Private Bank in Geneva.
