He is not now, nor has he ever been a customer of HSBC RS, however he was a victim of their practices this month. In the course of monitoring his checking and savings accounts he discovered a discrepancy. His checking account had been emptied.
We immediately called the credit union and they did an investigation. What was discovered was that there were two transactions which were either in error or outrightly fraudulent. the first was an automatic withdrawal of over $1100, to HSBC RS.
We had never heard of them. the second was less than a week later, but in a new month, and it appeared as a check to “retail services” for a slightly higher amount. The name on the check was not my fathers, but was another CU member. The similarity in the transaction amounts and the fact that they were both initiated on the exact same day is why I googled HSBC and found your site.
I do not think there was anything accidental about either of these transactions nor the dates on which they cleared the account.
If we hadn’t gone in and checked the records, the second withdrawal would have been on next month’s statement. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fact that my father is 89 years old has something to do with it as well. We are lucky, our CU is correcting the mess and returning the money. I hope you guys are able to get the people out of business. we are watching too!” Thank you!
