ME, no location disclosed, said: “I was a holder of a Gottschalks credit card and when the company went bankrupt I cut the card up. Many months later I received a letter from HSBC telling me of changes in my credit card account with them. I phoned them to tell them I wanted no account with them. I spoke first to Abdul (no kidding) in India I suppose, who told me he could do nothing. I requested to be transferred to someone could could do something.

I was shunted around to about 5 people the last of whom told me that they could “probably” close my account but it would take about 6-8 weeks for that to happen. Well it has been way longer than that and I still have NO confirmation from HSBC that my account is closed.

Surely a consumer has the right to close an account? Any suggestions on how I can have this resolved?”
