Comment on this HSBC complaint at Household – HSBC Watch

LB reports:  “I applied on-line for a HSBC credit card and requested a balance transfer from another card that I own.  My credit limit from HSBC was less than the amount that I wanted to transfer, so I immediately called HSBC to cancel the card. (I don’t understand why the limit was so low since I have an excellent credit rating and my other card is 10 times the HSBC limit.) I was told that the card was cancelled and there would be no charges against it.  Two weeks later HSBC went ahead and did the balance transfer and charged me a $99.00 transfer fee.  When I called to complain they said that once the transfer is made they can not undo it and they would not waive the $99.00 transfer fee.  I don’t remember seeing anything on-line that said that there was a transfer fee.”
