Andrea in North Carolina said: “I authorized a bank to bank transfer in the amount of $500 on October 30th, 2009 from my PNC account to my HSBC savings account. When I checked my PNC account two transfers in the amount of $500 a piece had been processed.
I double checked my HSBC account transfer history and it verified that I had only made one transfer.
I contacted HSBC and after waiting on hold for 45 minutes was told that they were aware of the problem and that several people had the same experience.
I was told that the additional $500 would be returned to my account in 3 to 5 business days and that HSBC would cover any NSF fees that the additional transfer would cause.
This is unacceptable. I will be closing my HSBC savings account its not worth the risk. If HSBC covers the NSF fees I’ll be surprised… what about any late fees this causes?
I have spent the last two years rebuilding my credit after a nasty divorce and I can not afford my financial institution this level of incompetence.”
