JP in Dubai, UAE, said: “The HSBC ME Tariff shows 100 is chargeable per transfer unless a regular transfer to the same desitination then it’s free but I’m always charged 150. I had at least 5 different explanations from HSBC ME including “tha tariff is wrong”
After probably 7 or 8 tranfers and follow up complaints I was eventually told the extra charge was made by the receiving bank, not HSBC, so I checked with the receiving bank and guess what? The receiving bank did not make a charge.

After confronting HSBC with this they told me it is chargeable by HSBC even if there is no charge made by the receiving bank because on the banking screen I clicked to accept the charges at the sending account and not the receiving account.
There are 3 options on the screen; Accept charges at the sending account, Receiving account or shared between but surely accepting charges can only mean the charges listed in the tariff and not charges that don’t exist. I think this amounts to fraud.”
