In an article by Heather Tomlinson, on June 21, 2005, in The Guardian, she said “Lloyds TSB, the largest unsecured lender in the UK, yesterday warned of an increase in the number of customers facing repayment difficulties on credit cards and personal loans. It is the latest high street bank to warn that more British consumers are having debt problems, following recent alerts from Barclays, HSBC and Royal Bank of Scotland.”
According to US based consumer advocacy group HSBC Watch, this is the same market HSBC targeted in the United States by buying Household International. “Look for more problems with HSBC’s reputation, profits, and legal woes in the future” said the group.
