A visitor mentioned that we forgot to update you on the K-Mart credit card. Looks like the “new Sears” finally dumped the predatory lender. HSBC had their name on the paperwork but the back end was Household International. There was no “world class” service either.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ — Sears Holdings Corporation
(Nasdaq: SHLD) announced that starting today, Oct. 27, 2005, customers
shopping at Kmart stores will be able to apply for the Sears Card. “Kmart customers can also look forward to the same world-class service Citibank provides to our existing Sears’ proprietary and Gold MasterCard cardmembers.”

Sears Holdings announced in May that it had amended its agreement with Citibank and would be terminating Kmart’s relationship with Household Bank (HSBC), which previously provided a private label credit card program for Kmart. (see more)

I recently got approved for a Kmart credit card nearly a month ago. I was told that the card would be mailed to me at – address edited – at Colorado Springs,Colorado 80907. I have never recieved my card which is making me extremely fustrated. I was looking forward to becoming a regular retail customer at my local Sears and Kmart stores. This is really irritating. Could someone in account services please tell me what in the world is going on .?? It would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    De’Lana D. Smith

HSBC is still one of the banks to approve anyone who applies for credit with Sears. If you are turned down by CitiBank, you may be offered a Sears card through HSBC. Make sure you understand this before signing anything or saying yes, unless you truly understand this process. Some people are so excited to be approved, they have no idea who they are approved through or which finance company they are doing business with. You can’t be approved unless you SIGN the agreement.

I use HSBC and have never had problems with them. I don’t have a Sears card, but use HSBC’s Gold Card.
